Work in Progress
The Percussion On The Sound regular season runs from October 2, 2022, through May 7, 2023. The program meets on Sundays from 9:30 AM - 12 PM in the Joseph G. Shapiro Family Hall on the main campus of Hofstra University. There are a total of 26 sessions where students will learn music fundamentals, advanced percussion techniques, music festival preparation, college audition preparation, and receive ensemble and solo performance experience. The final project is a full percussion ensemble concert in the Spring of 2023.
Students become better artists and more effective music citizens through this program. They become much more aware of the importance of teamwork, work ethic, organizational skills, goal-setting, creative thinking, peak practice habits, and breathing. This creates greater self-confidence and improves their level of public performance.
Students have access to the music facilities and percussion instrument collection. They gain hours of experience on a real university campus with tremendous resources making the transition into college more manageable.
POTS! faculty are some of New York City’s finest percussionists who bring their professional experience into the classroom from institutions such as New York City Ballet, New York Philharmonic, The Juilliard School, Hofstra University, and Five Towns College.
Rolling admission can be discussed.
